At the start of the book Elvis was a cocky, new kid who no one liked, including Colach. He never wanted to work hard and was a slacker. Now Elvis is one of the most popular kids in school and is a down to earth kid. He cares about everyone and everything. He would be a good kind of friend to have.

This book is basically about life and football in general. Coach is now trying to ring back a falling football team back to the glory days it once lived. He has players that quit or just dont want to try or play hard. He only wants good kids playing on his team and sets certain standards for classes. He wants kids to excel on and off the field. He also is helping his daughter who is the hospital through some tough times.

This story takes place in Athens City, Alabama. This place is prime football area. Alabama always sends great football players to college and some times even the pros. This book takes place in the late 80's or early 90's. There is only one setting and that is in Athens City, in the school and on the football field.

The climax occurs when his daughter is doing very bad in the hospital and he decides to go coach his team. His team needs him as they need to win to make the playoffs. Coach's wife said he should coach as that his daughter would want the same. The team eventually lost to the state champions by only 3 points. They played there best game all season but during the game Coaches daughter died.

I think the auther wrote this story just for joy. I dont think he really had a point to it and made changes as he wrote the book. I think he is trying to make the point, Live life as its fullest. One day things could be fine and the next things can turn bad. This is example of when his daughter went into the hospital, and the day before she was out with her friends.

6th Reading

In Hometown Legend by Jerry B. He is trying to get Jackson on the same page as him.

Character Analysis

The interesting character in my book is Elvis. He is very cocky and is new. He takes Coach Sawyers sons jersey number the first day he got there. The whole team took offence to this. He is also a very good football player. It takes place in Athens City, Alabama. The Crusaders were known as a football powerhouse but are now in a fall down. The teams former coach Buster Schuler left town following the game where his son, the star player, broke his neck. His son had a full ride scholarship to Alabama. Now that the team is in bad condition the city has Cal look for their new coach. He goes right back to Coah Schuler. Buster agrees to the position as long as Cal is his assitiant.

Information

Title of book - Hometown Legends

Author - Jerry B.
